Parkash Singh Badal was an Indian politician and the 8th Chief Minister of Punjab. He served four terms as Chief Minister and was also a union minister in Prime Minister Morarji Desai’s government. Badal was born in 1927 and began his political career in 1947. He belonged to the Shiromani Akali Dal political party and was its president from 1995 to 2008. Badal was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He died on 25 April 2023, aged 95, after a brief illness at Fortis hospital in Mohali, Punjab.
